7th grade finished their tiki sculptures. Students had to first make two different sketches with lot of expression, then the best sketch was chosen for their final. They sculpted the sculptures out of floral foam- our class was a mess! Then they painted the surface and added more detail. They turned out great and are displayed in the library. Check them out below! 2nd hour artwork:8th hour artwork:8th grade just completed their printmaking project. Students had to come up with a three tone color scheme on black, white, and a choice colored paper. They were allowed to choose their subject matter. The first layer of color was done using only the block. The second layer was made after carving out the background. Finally only details were left on the block for the final print, using their third color. Check them out below: 1st hour artwork:7th hour artwork:6th grade just finished their masks. They had to draw 3 different sketches, then transfer that design onto their mask. 5th hour artwork:6th hour artwork:7th grade student have just finished their letter zentangle. They chose to use their first or last initial and intersected that letter with lines. Students had to create patterns to fill each section with using a black marker. They then added colored pencil or pencil to add value to their sections. Enjoy! 2nd hour students' artwork:8th hour students' artwork:This project focused on how artist go from realistic to abstract. the 6th grade artists had to experiment with that idea. First they created a realistic line drawing of them self. Then they had to take that drawing and draw it again using only one line. After they found a one line drawing they liked they used yarn to convert that into a printing 'block'. The final projects turned out awesome! 5th hour artists' work:6th hour artists' work:The 8th grade students have been working on an Optical or Op Art project. We watched a short video where we learn that Op Art creates optical allusions. The term referenced the fact that Op Art is comprised of illusion, and often appears - to the human eye - to be moving or breathing due to its precise, mathematically-based composition. So, yes students had to use a little math for this project. Check them out: 1st hour artists' work:7th hour artists' work: |
