6th graders finished a multi-step project. We started in a very realistic way with a self-portrait and worked our way to a abstracted self-portrait print. Students did this by completing a pencil drawing of themselves. We introduced ourselves to Pablo Picasso and his 'One-Liners'. Using Picasso as inspiration students completed a one line portrait drawing that we then turned into a printing block. Students continued to abstract their prints by adding bright block color using Pop Artist Andy Warhol as inspiration.
